– Sulfur generates toxic vapor for the fungus, blocking mitochondrial respiration.
– It also interferes with the fungus’s metabolism, inhibiting the enzymes in the respiratory chain.
– Prevents the fungus from germinating before infection and causes direct damage to mycelium and spores.
– In mites, sulfur vapor disrupts respiration and causes desiccation, death, or reduced mobility.
– Another form of action is that it causes a decrease in mite egg laying.
