Kitobel

Kitobel is an aqueous solution of chitosan hydrochloride, classified as a basic substance in Europe. Chitosan is a natural substance obtained from the chitin of crustaceans and the exoskeleton of molluscs through organic aquaculture or sustainable fishing. Kitobel has elicitor effect, stimulating plant defences, and indirectly has antifungal and bactericidal action.
It is authorised for use on berries, horticultural crops, cereals, fodder crops, potato and beet seeds, and ornamental bulbs.

How does it work

How it works

Kitobel has different modes of action:

– Elicitor and defence inducer: stimulates the natural defence mechanisms of plants. Induces phytoalexin production and lignification.

– Indirect antifungal and antibacterial action: interferes with spore germination and fungal mycelial growth, denaturing infectious fungal structures.

– Physical action: forms protective films on the leaf surface.
